Rimmel Stay Matte Liquid Lip Colour

I can make you feel good by Shalamar
Rimmel is not a brand that I naturally gravitate towards - I don't have anything against it but, when I'm perusing in the high street/drugstore I often just skip on by to another brands stack of pretty things ... Well, that was the case until I saw the display of *new* liquid lipsticks and choose a new stance by not merely skipping on by, but staying long enough for "Plum This Show" to tempt me to the till.

Since I've had this squashed in my makeup drawer for a while and used it on more than a few occasions, I think its safe to say my opinion is quite exacting and resolute for a no-fuss semi-quick review!

Packaging
The packaging is nice - you can see the product in the tubing, it's sturdy and travel-friendly. It's not heavy or overly light and I like the overall simplicity of its frosted bottle, curved cap, and flexible doe foot applicator.

The Colour

Plum This Show caught my eye because of its deep reddish berry hue. This is the type of red that is often prescribed for dark skin in magazines and makeup manuals. Usually, I'm the type to squash such recommendations and go for brazen and rebellious vibrant reds but, this plummy red has a mellowness to it that is nothing short of gorgeous ... Maybe its because I've reached my late 20s that my tastes have matured and I'm seeking sophistication and refinement over unbridled experimentation or, perhaps its just a really great shade. Either way, this shade is great not only for dark deep skin but for lighter skin tones as well

The Formula
Plum This Show

I find the application very easy. It's smooth, pigmented and goes on glossy but dries relatively quickly to a light and soft matte finish. Plum This Show has a musty perfumed fragrance that is decent enough to not make the masses barf though of course if I had my way it would smell like roses or a creamy caramel vanilla. Regardless it's not noticeable enough to quibble about, nor is it particularly distasteful to change.

I've heard a few opinions about this colour (plum this show) and the formula being patchy but, personally patchiness has not been a problem for me (see pics above). Nevertheless, I'm not saying patchiness is not a problem as from the swatches I've seen on lighter skin tones there is certainly photographic evidence that patchiness can be a problem.

This liquid lipstick is not drying and last well through even indelicate munching and can be reapplied without crumbling or caking up and when it fades, it fades graciously.

Summed Up Thoughts
Pretty chuffed. If I wasn't snowed under with so many liquid lipsticks already I'd definitely be adding a few more shades to my arsenal but as it is I'm doing my best to use and love what I have (post coming soon). Plus, I'm very satisfied with the shade, the feel (not drying) and wear of this product that I don't feel the need to experiment with new shades which perhaps is the greatest proof of all that I really like and enjoy this product.
